Welcome to the Why I’m Not Writing This Week series!
If you’re not familiar with this series, just know that the only thing writers love more than writing is avoiding writing. And I am definitely no exception. Today, I’ll list five things that distracted me from my writing this week.
I encourage you to share with me your reasons for not writing every week too and I’ll share my favorites in the latest edition.
Heat Wave
We’ve been suffering through an awful heatwave these last couple of weeks. Temperatures have been above the 90’s with terrible humidity as well. Things should calm down tomorrow, but it’s difficult to do much other than lay around when it’s so hot.
Seasonal Allergies
Along with the heat, my seasonal allergies have flared up this week. I’ve head congestion, a nasal drip and have just been tried all around. After ruling out COVID, I’ve resigned myself to chugging DayQuil and popping allergies until I can make it bed.
Montessori Method
We’ve been doing a lot of research into the Montessori Method recently. We’ve followed bits and pieces in Arthur’s toys and furniture in his room, but we’re really diving in as he gets ready to start walking soon. He loves being independent and figuring things out on his own, so he’s been taking to the toys and other materials well.
Scrubs
My most recent sitcom rewatch has been the classic hospital comedy, Scrubs. I used to love this show in high school, so it’s been fun to rewatch it. I’ve been pairing my rewatch with the stars’ podcast, Fake Doctors, Real Friends too, which has been so much fun.
Planning Time Off
I’m planning to take a few days off from my day job at the end of August. I’m hoping to take that time to buckle down, get my last bit of book edits down, and get ready to start querying in the early fall. It’s been a while since I’ve been so excited to query, so I’m looking forward to it.
