Why I'm Not Writing This Week 9/6
Welcome to "Why I'm Not Writing." We all know that the only thing writers like doing more than writing is avoiding writing. So every Friday I list five things that have distracted me from my writing that week.
I also encourage you to share with me what made you procrastinate this week by posting with #whyimnotwriting on Twitter, Facebook & Instagram, or share in the comments below. I'll feature my favorites with everyone here.
Fruits Basket: 1st Season
I was a huge fan of the original Fruits Basket show when it first aired ages ago. It was actually my first introduction to anime, outside of children’s shows, so it holds a special place in my heart. For that reason, I’ve been nervous to watch the rebooted series but I got a crunchyroll account and started it this week. So far, I’m very impressed!
Stress
There is a lot going on in my life right now. While none of it is dire, it’s a lot of small things that are starting to pile up. I’m hopeful that the skies will clear soon and better times are ahead. If you have any spare prayers or happy thoughts, please send them my way! Much appreciated.
Hurricane Dorian
Hurricane Dorian is actively attacking the North Carolina coast. While I’m not anywhere near the coast, I’ve been watching it carefully, since it wouldn’t be the first time a strong hurricane has came inland towards us. I’m also thinking about my friends and their families on the coast who will be affected.
#Pitmad
Yesterday was the fall season of #Pitmad, the quarterly pitch contest on twitter. I actually had TWO books to pitch this time, so I stayed busy. I can’t say the event was fruitful in terms of requests for queries, but I had the best time reading fellow writer’s pitches and making new connections in the community. Thanks everyone for the support.m
Labor Day/Anniversary
This Monday, I celebrated labor day and my second wedding anniversary with my husband. We spent a beautiful long weekend camping out in Saxapahaw and just spending time together. I want to give a quick shout out to him this week for being such a sweet, supporting and all around amazing partner. I love you Daniel!
