Why I'm Not Writing This Week 2/23

Welcome to "Why I'm Not Writing." We all know that the only thing writers like doing better than writing is avoiding writing. So every Friday I list five things that have distracted me from my writing that week.

I also encourage you to share with me what made you procrastinate this week by posting with #whyimnotwriting on Twitter, Facebook & Instagram, or share in the comments below. I'll feature my favorites with everyone here.

Redecorating!

This weekend, I woke up with the need to redecorate my house. It wasn't a want but a need.  Suddenly, I became convinced everything in my house was in the wrong place and I had to put it where it should be, or I'd go crazy living there. So I spent most of Saturday and Sunday moving furniture around, much to my husband's annoyance, but the good news is everything looks great!

Interview With Kevin Johns

I got to hang out and talk with Kevin Johns, the owner and voice of the Writing Coach Podcast. We talked about writing, day jobs, coffee, twitter and more. The interview will be edited and put on his website sometime soon. In the meantime, head over to his website and check out some other interview he's had. They're a blast!

Family Visiting

I was really lucky to have my Aunt come and stay with me this week while she had a work conference nearby. It's always nice to have an excuse to dust off the guest bed and play host for a little while. Plus, you get to visit and spend time with people you don't always get to see.

Breath of the Wild

I know the game has been out for a while, but Daniel and I don't usually get a chance to buy new games or game systems. My brother was nice enough to let us borrow his Wii U and games for a while so we could try it out. This game is basically all Daniel's done for the past week (while I've been moving furniture) but it's been a lot of fun for both of us.

The Speakeasy Project

I will be working with The Speakeasy Project in the future as their Head of Scheduling to help find new writers to participate in their online workshop programs and guest lecture series. If you haven't heard fo The Speakeasy Project, make sure you check out their website. You can sign up for one of their upcoming online workshops and work closely with poets and authors from around the country. If you're interested in being a mentor or guest lecturer for the project, you can also contact the staff via their website.
