Why I'm Not Writing This Week 1/31

Welcome to the Why I’m Not Writing This Week series!

If you’re not familiar with this series, just know that the only thing writers love more than writing is avoiding writing. And I am definitely no exception. Every Friday, I list five things that distracted me from my writing this week.

I encourage you to share with me your reasons for not writing every week too and I’ll share my favorites in the latest edition.

Girls Night!

I was really excited this past weekend to get to spend a night with my best friend, just the two of us. We ate pizza, lounged on the couch and binged watched our favorite chick-flicks. It was really a great way to unwind after such a long week.

Eating Out

While I know it’s probably really bad, me and Daniel have been spending a lot of our free time eating out. We should probably be saving some money (and calories) but cooking at home. But with how busy we’ve been lately, it’s been so nice to get out of the house and spend some time not worrying about dishes or groceries or anything else.

The Rise Of Skywalker

I finally got to see the last movie in the Star Wars saga this week. I absolutely loved The Last Jedi, despite the negative buzz, because it felt really different from the other movies. But, this movie did a better job encapsulating the spirit of Star Wars and created a satisfying conclusion.

#SFFPit

I was reminded at the last minute yesterday to participate in #SFFPit on Twitter. I used it as a chance to put some feelers out for my new novel ON THE RAILS. The book is in the revision stage still, but this was a good opportunity to test out my pitch and see what the general reception to the book would be. So far, I’m optimistic!

Meetings

On a less exciting note, most of my time has been tied up at meetings for different events and boards I’m on. It’s nice to get out of the house for a bit and mingle with other people in a non-work environment, but with my pregnancy fatigue, it’s also been a struggle. After each meeting, I’m pretty much been coming home and going straight to sleep.
